Hermanas

Hermanas began from my relationship with my sister and the distance between us. Living in different countries made me more aware of the ways sisterhood is maintained through memory, care, shared history and everyday connection. Growing up in a Mexican family, I understood sisterhood as something inherited, but moving to London expanded this idea. Through the Latin American women I met, I began to see how sister-like bonds can also be formed through friendship, migration, culture and mutual support.

The project explores sisterhood as both biological and chosen, asking: what makes a sister, and what makes sisterhood visible
